Richmond Country Club’s 18-hole layout is a creation of revered golf course architect A.V. Macan, an Irish lawyer and accomplished golfer who crafted more than 40 renowned courses along the Pacific Coast during his prolific career. The Club has been the venue of choice for a number of local and provincial championships through the years and hosted its first national event, the RCGA CN Canadian Women's Tour Event in May 2008.
Set within the green belt of the agricultural land reserve, the golf course features serene, pastoral surroundings and an abundance of distinctive natural features such as giant weeping willow trees. The championship level golf course tests the accuracy and nerve of golfers with tree-lined fairways and well-positioned bunkers and waterways. Raised, undulating greens are the signature of A.V. Macan and call for precise shot-making skills.
Few alterations have been made to the original design of the course, with the exception of improvements to the bunkers and mounds surrounding the greens and enhancements to the drainage system for greater year-round playability of the course. Once a golfer reaches the par three 12th hole, the finishing stretch of holes provide a demanding, yet memorable, test for players of all abilities.
Richmond Country Club has been or is soon to be the host site for a number of championship events:
1969 BC Men’s Amateur Championship
2003 BC Men’s Amateur Championship
2005 BC PGA Assistants Championship
2006 RCGA Future Links Pacific Championship
